CRANE

EU Pre-Commercial Procurement · Health & Care
Status: Phase 3 Pilot (2025–2026)

Challenge

Rural regions across Europe face an ageing population and rising chronic illness, straining healthcare systems and access to care.

Solution

CRANE develops and pilots a scalable, citizen-centered self-management model built on the DATA for GOOD platform, enabling secure, GDPR-compliant data sharing across care providers.

Impact

The project aims to support patient empowerment, data-informed care, and more efficient use of healthcare resources, with potential to scale across Europe.

DATA for GOOD’s Role

Coordination and delivery of the DATA for GOOD platform, including consent, governance, and integration of secure data technologies provided by project partners.

Trivselsplatform

Erhvervsfyrtårn Life Science · Mental Well-being
Status: Early-stage development

Challenge

Organisations in Denmark are seeing rising stress and mental strain, but digital well-being tools are fragmented, hard to scale, and difficult to manage securely and compliantly.

Solution

DfG is developing a shared collaboration model and neutral, GDPR-compliant data infrastructure so multiple well-being services can work together — with citizens in control of their data.

Impact

A scalable framework for coordinated digital well-being support that can be rolled out across Denmark and expanded over time.

DATA for GOOD’s Role

Facilitates collaboration and provides the secure data-sharing infrastructure underpinning the initiative.

CareMatrix

EU Pre-Commercial Procurement · Integrated Care
Status: Phase 2 Completed

Challenge

People with multimorbidity (multiple long-term conditions) often experience fragmented care across health and social services, leading to poor coordination and outcomes.

Solution

CareMatrix challenges the health market to develop integrated care solutions. Through the MicCheck concept, the project places citizens and their data at the centre of care using secure, interoperable digital tools.

Impact

The project explores new ways to improve coordination between care providers, support self-management, and enable more proactive care for people with multimorbidity.

DATA for GOOD’s Role

Contribution to the MicCheck solution through data governance design, consent models, and integration of secure data infrastructure delivered in collaboration with technology partners.

HedaX

National Innovation Project · Health Research
Status: Completed (ended Dec 2022)

Challenge

Health data is underutilised due to strict privacy requirements and fragmented consent models, limiting its value for research, innovation, and personalised medicine.

Solution

HedaX developed a new IT infrastructure enabling GDPR-compliant exchange of health data through individualised consent, combining national health data with patient-generated data.

Impact

The project contributed to research in personalised medicine, including cancer treatment and bipolar disorder, while demonstrating consent-based data governance in practice.

DATA for GOOD’s Role

Provision of the DATA for GOOD platform to securely collect and manage patient data, with a focus on applied cryptography and consent-based data sharing.

BlockDAP

National Innovation Project · Data Infrastructure
Status: Completed (ended 2021)

Challenge

Organisations need to exchange sensitive data securely, but existing solutions struggle to protect confidentiality while enabling data sharing for innovation and collaboration.

Solution

BlockDAP explored blockchain and secure multiparty computation (SMC) to create virtual data lakes, enabling controlled sharing of confidential data for commercial and non-commercial use.

Impact

The project generated insights into the strengths and limitations of blockchain and secure computation for confidential data sharing in a data-driven economy.

DATA for GOOD’s Role

Exploration of data governance models and platform concepts, working with technology partners to assess blockchain and secure computation approaches.
