DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet – Privacy Policy

The DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet is a software service accessible via a mobile device application distributed by DATA for GOOD Foundation (DfG) that enables users to:

  • receive verifiable credentials
  • present verifiable credentials or a subset of the contained claims
  • view historic data about previous activity
  • additional functionality as may be added to the app / wallet from time to time

This Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy) explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the App.

We receive or collect information when we operate and provide our services, including when you install, access, or use our services.

Information you provide

Your Account Information
To create a DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet, you will install the app from verified sources (e.g. official app stores). To use the wallet, you need to create a private key.

Your Actions
We securely generate a private key, which you use to perform actions related to your identity information. The private key is stored only on your own device in the device’s secure element. Your actions can be linked using the public part of this key.

Historic Data
To enable a view of historic data, information about your activity will be stored locally on your device.

Customer Support
We may collect additional information you disclose to our customer support team.


Automatically collected information

Metrics and Performance Data
We may collect service-related, diagnostic, and performance information. This includes high-level information about your activity, and diagnostic, crash, website, and performance logs and reports.

Device and Connection Information
We may collect device-specific information when you install, access, or use our services. This may include your IP address and your public key. We may also temporarily collect information about decentralized applications that you are connecting to while establishing that connection.

Status Information
We may collect information about your online status on our services, such as when you last used our services.


How We Use The Information We Collect

Our primary purpose in collecting information is to help us operate, provide, improve, customize, support, and market our services. We may use your information to:

  • Provide the services and customer support you request
  • Resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems
  • Prevent and investigate potentially prohibited or illegal activities or violations of our User Agreement

How you can access or change your information

The DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet is a non-custodial wallet application.

  • We do not have access to your private key(s), as they are stored only locally on your device in secure storage
  • Private cryptographic data is not shared with our services or with third-party data brokers or service providers

Public keys and other non-sensitive data may be shared with services, websites, and providers such as credential issuers and verifiers.

At your discretion, you may delete your private cryptographic data at any time by deleting your private keys.

Deleting the DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet will delete your private key and historic data. This action is irreversible.

The wallet does not store your cryptographic data outside of the application.


Our Operations

You agree to the collection, use, processing, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

This processing takes place in Europe.


Updates To Our Policy

We may amend or update our Privacy Policy from time to time and give you the opportunity to review updates before continuing to use the DATA for GOOD Personal Wallet.

We will always strive to collect as little data as possible while maintaining functionality.
